The digitization is being performed in interactive regime, supported with set of pop-up windows.
Main window (Scanned signal digitizing) contains the canvas image, buttons for setting the time scale, and also the buttons, which are used continuously during the trace digitizing.
Etc window ("et cetera") contains the means for reading the file, tuning the parameters, setting the options and other buttons, which are used relatively seldom.
Eraser window is used during the rectifying the canvas. It contains the control buttons and choice for selection of the eraser's geometry.
Save data window is used for forming of output .wfdisc files.
Arc window (Transforming to rectangular coordinates) is used for conversion of arched image to rectangular one, so the single admissible source form for the digitization is a rectangular image.
Main window
Main window contains a canvas for seismogram image and panel with several panel's tools. The Main Window Control Buttons are divided into two horizontal sets of ones. The upper set includes the following:
Etc
Creates a new display Window for reading the file, tuning the parameters, setting the options and performing the other functions.
Digitize
Causes the digitization to be performed.
Save
Creates a new display Window for data resembling and forming output .wfdisc files.
Scale
For enlarging the image by a factor of 2, 4 or 8.
TM interval
Is the area for typing in the amount of seconds between last two time marks during the time scaling.
A
Causes the typed time interval to be set.
Interpol
For setting of approximation method during manual trace editing (Linear interpolation or square spline approximation).
Quit
Causes the termination of the job.
Help
Causes help information to be displayed.

S Htm
Switches the Mode to Draw Human time line through the visible mark on the screen in order to tie the picture to absolute astronomic time.
D Htm
Switches the Mode to erase Human time line.
S TM
Switches the Mode to Draw lines through the visible time mark to perform the time scale tying.
D TM
Switches the Mode to erase Time mark lines.
S Axis
Switches the Mode to select axis. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button causes the drawing of axis and selection of sets of segments along it. Previously drowned axis is removed.
S Band
Switches the Mode to Draw working interval boundaries for digitizing. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button causes the drawing of boundaries. Two boundaries are needed for the digitizing process.
D Bnd
Switches the Mode to Delete boundaries. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button causes the deletion of boundary, indicated by cursor. If cursor doesn't point into any line, both boundaries may be deleted after User's confirmation.
S Sgm
Switches the Mode to select segments. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button or moving the cursor with pressed one over the segments causes the selection of segments indicated by cursor.
Uns Sgm
Switches the Mode to deselect segments. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button or moving the cursor with pressed one over the selected segments causes the unselection of them.
S points
Sets the Mode to manual digitizing. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button causes the placing of a new point into the trace.
Edit trace
Causes the plotting of new manual part of trace depending on approximation method (see above).
Msr
Allows user to follow the position of cursor and measure the distance between two arbitrary points on the plot.
Eraser
Creates a new display Window and switches the Mode for erasing the dirt spots. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button or moving the cursor with pressed one over the dirt spots causes the clearing zones contoured by dynamic cursor.

Tuning parameters
Creates a new display Window for tuning selection quality parameters.
Save current canvas
Writes the whole current plot into the Disk file, named as *.tmp. Here the * is an initial pcx-file name without extension.
Close
Causes the window to disappear.
Source file
This is the area for typing in name of PCX-file.
Load
Loads the file.
Restore
Restores the canvas saved by Save current canvas
Human time
This is the area for typing in epoch time in accordance with the drowned line in format 1993- 098:15.03.40.345 Apply Causes the typed Human time to be set.
Time unit for timemarking
Is the area for entering the length (in float seconds) of interval between two ajacent time marks. Apply Causes the typed Time unit to be set.
Dispiking
Sets the option for automatic removal of the spikes during digitizing.
Length of median window
Sets the median window length (in pixels). Default is 7.
Filtering
Sets the option for automatic filtering the digitized trace with freguency band Butterworth filter. Is the area for entering the low and high frequency boundaries of the band (in 1/pixels) for filtering. Default band is 0.0001 - 0.05.
Clear selected segments after output
Sets the option for automatic rectifying the image from the screen that is significantly improved the further visual interpretation of the rest complex kind of "spaghetty" traces by the user.
Enhancing
Causes clearing the canvas from the vertical grid lines, which are seriously disarticulate the image.
Rotation
Creates a new display Window for image rotation.
Arc_to_rectangular
Creates a new display Window for Conversion of the arched image to rectangular coordinates.
Eraser window
Eraser window is used during the rectifying the canvas. It contains the choice buttons for selection of the eraser's geometry shape and some control buttons:
Apply
Causes the completion of erasing of the whole image, re-reading of the pcx-file.
Close
Suspends the erasing and save the erasing square list. Causes the disappearing of the window.
Eraser geometry
Set the geometry form of the Erasing zone, which can appear as square or circle contour.
Deny last
Cancels the last erasing operation. One operation is supposed to be continued from depressing the left mouse button to releasing one. After deny one should make refresh the window to restore previous image.
Deny all
Cancels all changes made, clears erasing zone list. After deny one should make refresh the window to restore source image.
Help
Causes help information to be displayed.
Save line window
Save line Window is intended to save on file output parameters and data.
Creating .wfdisc waveform files
Causes the output data to be written onto the disc.
Quit
Causes the window to disappear.
Output data representation
Switches the mode of output data representation to Binary or to ASCII and makes visible the appropriate button.
Select data storage format
Allows to choose binary format from follows Real 4, Double 8, Integer 4, Integer 2.
Set output data format
Is the field for setting ASCII format
Set station code
Is the field for setting Station code (up to 6 characters).
Set channel code:
Is the field for setting Channel code (up to 2 characters).
Set sampling rate
Is the field for setting Sampling rate. Type of value is float.
Resampled data output
Causes the resampled line to be drawn.
Resampled data shift
Sets the distance (in pixels) by vertical between resampled line and main curve. Type of value is integer (positive or negative).
Clear
Causes the resampled line to be cleared.
Rmean
If Yes, removes mean from the digitized trace.
Vertical scale
Zoom coefficient (in vertical). Type of value is float.
Comment
Is the area for typing in user's comment.
Start_time and Data_last_accessed
Is the program information about epoch time of digitized interval in accordance with Human time, boundaries and time scale.
Weight of X-axis pixel
Is the program information about the value of one pixel's step (in seconds).
Rotate window
Rotate window is intended to rotate the seismogram, if scanning was not performed correctly and linear trend would corrupt results. The Window control buttons are as follows:
Apply
Causes the image to be rotated.
Quit
Causes the window to disappear.
Select right point for new axis
Sets the Mode to draw new axis. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button causes the drawing of new axis through start point of old trace (on the left side of the image) and new cursor location point.
Delete new axis
Causes the new axis to be cleared.
Arc window
The Arc window (Transforming to rectangular coordinates) is intended to convert the arched image into rectangular one, so the single admissible source form for the digitization is a rectangular image. The Window control buttons are as follows.
Transforming
Causes the image to be transformed.
Quit
Causes the window to disappear.
Arc panel contains also Choice button (in the upper line) for setting factor of equality of all pen shoulder radiuses on the seismogram. Then the Arc Window panel contains pull-down menu for setting the Mode as follows:
Set axes
Sets the Mode to draw axes. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button causes the drawing of horizontal axis through cursor location.
Del axes
Sets the Mode to delete axes. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button causes removal of horizontal axis near the cursor location.
Sel axes
Sets the Mode to choose axis. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button defines the mentioned axis as active one for further manipulations.
Sel layer
Sets the Mode to define the size of layer near axis. Two lines - upper and downer boundary of the layer will be drowned. The layer means, that all coordinate transforming will be performed only within its boundaries. Others parts of screen will be cleared.
Del layer
Sets the Mode to delete the layer near axis.
Set pairs
Sets the Mode to place the points onto the screen in order to measure a radius of a pen shoulder.
Cancel radius
Causes the radius value to be canceled.
Display coords
Sets the Mode to display cursor coordinates. While in this mode clicking the left mouse button causes sending the coordinates to the string placed below.
Information strings:
Index of selected axes
Shows a number of axes, selected by user.
Amount of axis
Shows the amount of the axis yet drowned onto the screen.
Coords
Shows the coordinates of arbitrary cursor allocation if appropriate mode was activated.
Number of test
Shows the number of the pass on measuring the radius, performed to estimate average value.
First point of the pair
Shows the coordinates of the initial point (disposed on the axis), selected during first measurement of radius.
Second point and Radius
Shows the coordinates of second (terminating) point (disposed far from axis), selected in the frame during measurement of radius.
Number of test
Shows the number of the pass on measuring the radius, performed to estimate average value.
Average radius
Shows the current average value of the radius.
Apply
Activate selected value of average radius for further transformation.
