Tuning the selection parameters
Before digitizing a user may tune some parameters of segment selection procedures in order to adapt the program to the specific seismograms characters such as: range of amplitude, thickness of lines, etc. This provides a maximum effectiveness of the selection.
To tune the selection parameters, a user clicks "TV" button; after that a special window appears. The window Control Buttons are as follows:
Apply
Causes the parameters to be set.
Help
Causes the Help window to appear.
Fine tuning
Causes the window to perform fine tuning of the parameters. This window is used by the developers only.
Close
Causes the Tuning window to disappear.
Axe corridor
is a slider for graphical selection of the value for the size of area to search next segment (default is 10).
Low line's width limit
is a slider for graphical selection of the value of line's width, which defines will the selected axe/segment be analyzed or not if it's thickness lower than LOW_WIDTH_LIMIT (default is 3).
High line's width limit
is a slider for graphical selection of the value of line's width, which defines will the selected axe/segment be analyzed or not if it's thickness higher than HIGH_WIDTH_LIMIT (default is 100).
Segment's gap
is a slider for graphical selection of the value for the Segment's gap value, which reflects (in mode "Sel axe") whether or not the neighbor segments, separated by the gap, be merged to make up a line.
After "Tuning" window arises a user has to make several attempts with gradual changing of each parameter. Every time he must observe the effect. The criterion is the maximal number of useful segments selected along the axis and the minimal number of the noise segments included. Some experience is needed for a new User. When an appropriate result is achieved, a user may begin to digitize the traces.
