Multichannel Graphic Subsystem

The SNDA interactive graphic functions are realized in three graphic components: Multichannel Graphic Subsystem (MGS), graphic package "SA-Surfer" and graphic package "SA-Map".

The MGS enables a user to display traces of multichannel data stored in the Stack and make interactive manipulations with the trace plots. In particular, one may interactively:

  • overview the RTS Diskloop by paging it in both directions;
  • extract arbitrary fragments of multichannel time series stored in the Diskloop and place them into the Stack for further analysis by all SNDA tools;
  • select Stack channels and set a time window for the Stack data by clicking the special buttons or by drawing a box on the multichannel trace plot:
  • perform measurements of time moments, time intervals, sample values and amplitudes at the trace plots and assign measured values to the BBV;
  • perform zoom-in and zoom-out operations on traces for better display of weak wavelets;
  • execute the precise automatic estimation of seismic phase onset time by the maximum likelihood algorithm;

Onset time estimation.

  • perform a manual seismic phase picking: to identify a phase types, onset times and onset polarities, and to save this information in a special "arrival" file;
  • make a superposition of one trace plot over another for visual assessment of their correlation;
  • make manual correction of data traces by clipping their spikes (caused, for example, by digitizing errors);
  • make a set of interactive graphic processing commands such as onset time estimation, FFT, spectra estimation, different filtering, beamforming with the selected traces.
